I absolutely LOVE sewing for all my Teeny Tiny customers but it's time to take a break in order to get ready for Eden's arrival.

Did you know Teeny Tiny Fashions also makes handmade boutique style clothing? It's how I got my start! For awhile, I made so many pairs of ruffled pants, my dad joked that I should change the name to "Teeny Tiny Ruffled Pants!" But it's not just ruffled pants ~ everything from knot dresses, peasant tops, pillowcase dresses, boys jon jons or whatever you can dream up, I can make.

I am currently closed for all new orders ~ we've just learned that we'll be moving by the end of the year and I will be closed until at least January 2011 to allow time for the move. I'm also in the process of setting up an online storefront which will make it much easier for making an order.

If you are in need of tracking information for your package, you should have received an email from Paypal which contains tracking info. If you have not received this, you can email me and if I am able to get near a computer I will reply with the tracking info myself.

The last day to place orders for guaranteed Christmas delivery is December 1oth. After that date, there is a possibility that I will still be able to accept your order depending on scheduling, however there will be a rush charge ~ you may also have to pay for express shipping.

Please keep the following in mind when inquiring about ordering ~ my order status changes depending on the number of orders I have coming in as well as the intricacy of the existing orders. If you email me about taking an order but then wait a month to place the order, I may have filled up in the meantime and no longer be able to accept your order. This is especially true with birthday shirt orders due to their personalized nature. Once your order is accepted and payment made, I will send you a proof of the design for you to approve. I do this because sometimes a design may look different than you pictured it or the font you've chosen may not be what you're wanting once you see your child's name done in it. We go back and forth on the proof with changes until it is exactly as you want it to be. Multiple changes prolong the order process but I want you to be completely satisfied with the end result. There is no such thing as placing an order TOO early.

Determining sizing for children's clothing is difficult, given that brands don't always fit the same for every child.

I generally use Geranimals brand shirts or Rabbit Skins brand. The Geranimals seem to run true to size however Rabbit Skins run about a size to two sizes small. When ordering, indicate the size your child normally wears and I will let you know which brand I'll be using so we can plan the size accordingly.

Keep in mind that orders usually take at a minimum two weeks from the time of payment before I'm ready to ship. Sometimes this goes quicker depending on several factors including whether I have the size/color shirt on hand or have to order it.

For embroidery orders (birthday shirts, personalized orders, etc) once payment is made, you will receive the proposed design by email for your approval. After any changes are made and you've approved the design, the order can then be completed.

You won't find prices listed on here due to the custom nature of these items however, as a general guideline most birthday shirts start at $20-$25 and increase in price from there based on the intricacy of the design. Shipping cost is extra.

I am a mom and military wife ~ when I started doing this, I made a committment that family would come first. That said, we're in the process of selling our house and I need to focus on that for a couple of weeks.

It All Started Like This....

In case you're wondering, that's two Family Size boxes of Corn Pops. It's also 6:30 on Monday morning and I'm not what you would call a morning person. Imagine my surprise when I attempt to pour a bowl of cereal (still half asleep mind you) and the lid comes popping off the dispenser. Corn Pops went EVERYWHERE! This is not exactly how I pictured the morning starting, but I'm a Mom....we learn to roll with the punches (or Corn Pops in this case.)

The guilty party

Fast forward ~ Corn Pops (all 5 gazillion of them) have been cleaned up, world's most unhappy six year old has been persuaded to go to school, and now it's time for Mom to get some sewing done because there's only about 100 (okay, slight exaggeration) orders that are waiting. Walk into sewing room aka Teeny Tiny Fashions and find THIS...

I give myself credit for now freaking out. In fact, after the Corn Pops, I was pretty much broken in for the morning so I think I handled it rather well.

In case you're wondering, no that is not a small child trapped under all that stuff...it's a baby doll I sometimes use when needing to guesstimate at the size of an infant pattern. But she ended up being a casualty of war amidst the rubble.

Unfortunately, I had so many orders that needed to go out this week, I just didn't have the time to do much more with this other than stack it all up and rehang the shirts. This is my weekend project (yeah for me) and has made working in here oodles of fun this week...every ten minutes or so I trip over something. It's kind of like "contact sewing" only I don't have any athletic equipment to wear and there's no gold medal to be awared : )

Email problems, Pending orders, and Other maybe useful information

I'm currently SWAMPED with orders and sewing as fast as my little fingers will sew but wanted to take a moment to post with what I hope will be some useful info for everyone.

Earlier today, my email was acting up so if you've emailed me in the past 24 hours and haven't received a response yet, this is why. I try to do most of my sewing during the day when my son is at school and answer emails, send invoices, post, etc at night. If you haven't received a response to an email within 24 hours, please resend because sometimes gmail acts up and all I can figure is it eats the emails.

If you have placed an order and are expecting it by September 1st or shortly thereafter, do not despair...it will be there! If I promise to have an order to you by a certain date, I will get it in the mail in time to be to you. I ship USPS Priority mail so you'll also receive tracking info via an email from Paypal when the package is shipped and you can track the package. I know how frustrating it can be to order something on the internet and then wait for what seems like forever, wondering if it will really arrive. I'm also a Mommy and I know how important the special events are in our lives so I will do everything possible to make sure that your child's birthday shirt or special outfit is there on time.

Regarding shirt orders ~ I'm currently running low on WHITE shirts, both boys and girls. I do however have a ton of shirts in various colors and sizes. Please keep this in mind when ordering. If you want to place an order with a white shirt, I can still accomodate but the shirt may not be identical to the one you see pictured ~ this applies especially to the little girl shirts.

Currently, I'm running at about two weeks from the time of payment until I ship your order. This does not apply to any order already placed with a guaranteed shipping by a certain date (see above). Please keep in mind that I am responding to multiple emails and including the information above will make your transaction go quicker and smoother.

I also make children's boutique style clothing and accessories, as well as labor only sewing. If you are interested in any of these, please contact me by email to arrange an order. It usually takes between 2 and 4 weeks to receive your order, however this varies depending on the season and how busy I am at the time. Occassionally I can rush your order ~ just email me to inquire.

I have two methods of payment:
Paypal - this is the quicker way to pay. If you want to pay with Paypal, please include in your original email the email address that you use with your Paypal account. I will send you an invoice through Paypal. It is $1 per $25 worth of order to cover the fees.

Money Order - let me know if you want to pay by money order and I will send you my mailing address.

Please note that payment must be received prior to construction beginning on your order. This is why Paypal is the quicker way to pay because the payment goes through instantly. You can pay with a credit/check card through Paypal.

This is a Teeny Tiny original ~ features a detachable flipper fin for when she's ready to "walk on land" and slit to make for easier movement of teeny tiny legs. Wear the skirt "tail" to the front for pictures and to the back for walking.

Most likely, if you have found me through either of these fabulous ladies, then you're new to Teeny Tiny Fashions so I'd like to take the opportunity to introduce myself and explain a little bit about what I do.

I'm Melissa ~ the seamstress behind Teeny Tiny Fashions. I wear many "hats" as do so many women I know. I'm a military wife of 12 years and stationed with my husband here in sunny Florida but at heart, I am and will always be a Georgia girl. I'm Mommy to the most mischevious, amazing and wonderful six year old little boy. Being a mom is by far my absolute favorite "job" - rewarding, certainly challenging and most definately NEVER dull! I work outside the home as a full-time social worker helping abused, abandoned, and neglected children. I'm co-team mom for my son's baseball team and domestic diva that keeps this household (somewhat) functional...anyone that lives with boys will know exactly what I mean - seriously, how hard is it to hit the toilet?

And when I'm not doing all of those things, I'm stitching away in my little slice of paradise aka my sewing studio aka repurposed guest room turned sewing room. I'm a "self taught seamstress" - everything you see, I've taught myself to do over the years. Chances are, if I see it then I can make it.

I offer most everything you can dream up with Teeny Tiny Fashions ~ whether it's custom boutique style children's clothing or embroidered birthday shirts to baby bedding and accessories. I offer monogramming and personalization for just about anything I make. I specialize in custom designs...some of my favorite creations have been designed by my customers. In addition, I also do labor only sewing which is when my customer supplies the fabric and I do the sewing only. Cleaning out the clutter to free the Creativity

It's a project that really needed to be done but oh how I dreaded it...which is probably why I put it off as long as I did. I'm talking about cleaning my sewing room or as my husband "lovingly" calls it - the sweatshop. Over the past year, our guest room has gone through a metamorphisis of change from guest room, to combination guest room/computer room/sewing room, to guest room/sewing room to now simply ~ the sewing room aka home of Teeny Tiny Fashions.

It's not like there's a lot of time to be had for such projects. My days are filled with working my full-time job, attempting to manage the day-to-day activities of my husband and six year old son, plus trying to fit sewing and creating time into that mix. As I'm sure many women can relate, by the time everyone else is in bed and my "quiet time" rolls around, I'm almost too tired to want to do anything!

With the arrival of my new embroidery machine (Do you hear that? It's the sound of angels singing...or at least that's what I hear whenever I look at my new machine ~ I'm in love) When it was finally decided that I would be getting my Brother PR 620, the first thing my husband said to me was "you're going to have to clean up the sweatshop to make a place for it." Well, actually I think the first thing he said was "it costs how much?!" followed by gasping for air and sputtering to make a coherant sentence...little sticker shock I guess.

So my fabulous friend pitched in and helped me tackle the sewing room a few weekends ago and together we transformed the space into the official studio of Teeny Tiny Fashions. Even more amazing is that we managed to accomplish this in one day while simultaneously wrangling her three boys and my six year old!

I feel so much better with everything organized and in it's place. I have lots more space now and feel relazxd when I'm here there, instead of cramped and stressed. And of course, that's my new machine sitting there in it's new home...I absolutely LOVE it. The best part of this "makeover" ~ the husband can no longer in good faith call my room the sweatshop : )

All Teeny Tiny Fashions are handmade by me with attention to detail and quality workmanship. I use a "serger" for professionally finished seams, top stitching where appropriate, and add a TTF label. Design an outfit to your specifications, using my fabric selections or provide your own - check out http://www.etsy.com/ for lots of fabric possibilities. I also do "labor only" custom sewing - you provide the fabric and supplies for me to do the sewing.
