Have you heard?

Have you checked out the new website yet?
www.TeenyTinyFashions.com
This is my labor of love and I am so excited about it! Since it went live about a month ago, it has really helped me streamline the ordering process ~ no longer do you have to wait for an invoice or type in the details of your order. It's all done right there on the website! As soon as you see it listed, you can place your Teeny Tiny order and check out right there on the website. I accept Paypal through the site and with it, you can check out using your Paypal account as well as your debit/credit card or check (Paypal does hold those funds until they clear your bank.) Don't have a Paypal account? That's not a problem! You can still check out as a guest of Paypal without creating an account.

I'm slowly adding the various designs to the website and many of the very popular ones are already there, including several of the birthday designs and cute sayings. If there's one that you don't find listed there or have an idea for a custom creation, please email me or use the contact option on the website. There's also the Teeny Tiny Fashions Facebook page. If you haven't already liked it, please do the next time you're hopping around on Facebook. I post new designs on there as well as photos of finished orders so you can get a sneak peek while you wait on the postal service to deliver your Teeny Tiny order! You can find me at www.Facebook.com/TeenyTinyFashions

Here's a few of the most recent Teeny Tiny Fashions that have hit the mailbox :)

Check out the Facebook page for February's openings for custom sewing.
www.Facebook.com/TeenyTinyFashions

I still have a few spots remaining but they're filling up fast. Spring photo sessions mean special one-of-a-kind coordinating outfits for the Teeny Tinys.

Or maybe you're looking for the perfect special occassion dresses?

Spring Break is coming and with that brings family trips to visit the famous Mouse down South. Make sure you order early for your vacation attire - customer shirts are a great way to surprise your Teeny Tiny mouse fans and let them know where they're going to be vacationing.

Valentine designs have already been posted and Easter will be coming soon.

Plus we can't forget St. Patty's Day and Mardi Gras.

Finally, I'm excited to announce that I will be launching the new website in February. With it, you'll be able make instant purchases instead of waiting for an invoice, take advantage of the baby registry, and more easily see all the Teeny Tiny designs!

And Just Like That...Poof! Another Year Gone!

Where did 2012 go?
It seems like the whole year just disappeared when I wasn't looking. It might have something to do with having a baby, moving to a new home, and adding a family member.

If you've been wondering where I've been, this year has been a whirlwind of adjustments - our baby girl was born the day after Christmas and then in October, we moved yet again. If you're keeping track (well of course you are, right?) that's our third move in two years. We also felt the calling to add another family member to our brood ~ only we didn't go the typical route of baby or pet. Nope, we added a Grandma! Little Grandma as she's know around these parts. My grandmother came to live with us this month and we couldn't be happier to have her with us. She's a young 92 this year and the inspiration behind Teeny Tiny Fashions. I'm excited to have her physically close again after living in separate states for nearly ten years.

All that said, the time for sewing and embroidering has been hard to come by. Rather than accept orders that I wasn't certain I'd be able to fill in a timely manner, I took a "vacation" and closed shop while we worked our way through these changes.

I'm ready to start back to taking orders, but on a limited basis. I'm still accepting orders for birthday shirts. To place an order for a special occassion or birthday shirt, click this link and follow the instructions found there. http://teenytinyfashions.blogspot.com/p/how-to-order.html

I know many of you have emailed about holiday orders. I'm posting designs on my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/TeenyTinyFashions?ref=hl and will take Christmas orders until DECEMBER 3rd. Please check there if you're looking for holiday designs and make sure to LIKE the page so you can stay updated on the happenings of TTF.

Finally, I just listed the cutest red and white dress, perfect for holiday parties or Christmas photos ~ I'm in love with this fabric and I think you will be too! I have just enough left for a few more of these so hurry! You'll find order info here https://www.facebook.com/TeenyTinyFashions?ref=hl#!/photo.php?fbid=470923399613149&set=a.470481529657336.102314.156922371013255&type=1&theater&notif_t=photo_comment

Ruffled Ribbon Ric Rac Tutorial

Ruffled ric rac is popular for its use as an
adornment in applique and sewing.
You can purchase it already made, but I prefer to make my own.
It saves me money and I can use any ribbon of my choosing.

To make ruffled ribbon ric rac, all you need is ribbon, a sewing machine, thread, and a little bit of patience.

This is grosgrain ribbon ~ I prefer to use grosgrain because it holds up well when laundered
but you can experiment with other types of ribbon.
This is 7/8" ribbon I am using but other widths will work as well.
This is how you will start sewing your ribbon. Increase the stitch length on your sewing machine to as long as it will go (mine is 5.0) and start sewing from the top corner towards the opposite side. Do not back stitch at the beginning and make sure you do not stitch off the other side of the ribbon.
When you reach the opposite side (without stitching off of the ribbon) stop your machine, raise the presser foot, and turn your ribbon (with the needle still down in the ribbon) so that the ribbon is angled in the opposite direction. Lower the presser foot and start stitching again. In this manner, you will stitch the length of your ribbon, making a zig zag pattern.
This is what your ribbon should look like when you are finished. Note the zig zag pattern the length of the ribbon - this is what will make our ribbon gather in the desired manner when we start pulling the thread.

Find your top thread at the end of your ribbon. Holding the top thread, you will gently pull the ribbon towards the opposite end (where you originally started sewing), causing the ribbon to start gathering (in the same way you gather fabric when making ruffles) ~ work your way the length of the ribbon, gently sliding the ribbon along the thread. It may take a little trial and error until you have the gathering to your liking.
The finished product! I sewed mine using white thread so it would be visible for this tutorial, however you can use matching thread if you don't want the thread to be as visible.

Our blessing

Those that follow me will remember I've been on maternity leave since late last year. I'm so happy to announce that we welcomed our baby girl into the world the day after Christmas. This is our Eden Rose and her proud big brother, Eli.

I'm slowly getting back to sewing and have started taking orders on a limited basis. After not having a baby in the house for eight years, I've forgotten how much work is involved! So I'm started out slow and adding as I go. I'll also be offering some ready to ship items and pre-sales in the future in addition to the custom creations that I've always made.

You can still reach me by email TeenyTinyFashions@gmail.com or via Facebook www.Facebook.com/TeenyTinyFashions
